The primary difference lies in the rim design. A Turkish Darbuka has an exposed, flat edge with external screws, allowing for sharp finger-snapping techniques specific to Turkish playing styles. In contrast, an Egyptian Doumbek has a rounded, smooth rim with internal lugs, which favors a rolling technique and protects the hands. Both are vital parts of our Darbukas collection, but they offer very different playing experiences.
